xTool Selected Air Compressor & Air Dryer – Clean, Dry Air for Precision Laser Cutting
High-Pressure Air Supply for Metal Cutting Without Compromise
The xTool Selected Air Compressor & Air Dryer is the ultimate solution for clean, dry, and stable compressed air—designed specifically for laser cutting metal. This powerful pairing ensures burr-free cuts and protects your equipment from moisture, oil, and dust. With a maximum pressure of 1.0MPa, this system is perfect for cutting a wide range of metals with consistent quality.
To achieve optimal cutting performance, the air compressor and air dryer must be used together. Using them separately is not supported, as moisture and debris would flow into your system, potentially damaging the laser and reducing cutting precision.
Cut Stainless Steel, Aluminium, Brass, Carbon Steel & More
When paired with the xTool SaveGas™ Nozzle, this system delivers over 0.6MPa air pressure—ideal for:
-
Up to 4mm stainless steel
-
Up to 4mm aluminum
-
Up to 3mm brass
-
1mm carbon steel (with ordinary nozzle)
-
1mm galvanized steel (with ordinary nozzle)
For even thicker stainless steel, consider using high-purity nitrogen or argon gas at >1.2MPa. For thicker carbon steel, oxygen cutting is recommended.
Superior Engineering vs Other Air Compressors and Dryers
The xTool air compressor features a 5.2HP motor, delivering 1.0MPa pressure and 14.1 CFM airflow. Despite its compact size, it’s designed for heavy-duty metal laser cutting.
Unlike many brands that offer only one or two filtration stages, the xTool air dryer features:
-
A unique heat exchange module for fast air cooling
-
A three-stage precision filter system that removes 99.999% of oil and dust
This results in longer equipment lifespan, stable performance, and much cleaner cuts compared to typical systems.
Air Compressor vs Nitrogen or Argon – Which is Better?
Using compressed air over nitrogen or argon gas offers a massive cost advantage. A 40L nitrogen cylinder at 1.2MPa lasts only about 30 minutes and requires frequent replacement. Meanwhile, the xTool air compressor uses ambient air, dramatically cutting operating costs.
While nitrogen cuts are oxidation-free with bright edges, compressed air can achieve burr-free results on stainless steel, albeit with some surface darkening due to oxygen exposure.
Considerations When Using SaveGas™ Nozzle
While the SaveGas™ Nozzle reduces air consumption and cost, it does have limitations. It may:
-
Scratch metal surfaces
-
Struggle with fine patterns under 2.5mm in size
For higher quality cuts or complex patterns, switch to ordinary nozzles and use compressed air or nitrogen above 1.2MPa for best results.
